What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

The Roadtrip is on.

After spending my last few days in Athens with friends, on Tuesday I headed out.  I went to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and got to hang out with some of my U of A friends from the Fiji mission trip in 2005.  It was great to see them and we had an awesome time going out on the lake and on the Seadoos and whatnot.  We had a great meal that Deanna cooked and then played some Fluxx...it was just great to see them all again...it had been a while!

Then on Wed, it was off to memphis.  My parents still own a house there even though they've moved to OKC.  I went to Refuge, which is the CSC's wed night summer program.  It was good...a lady told her life story about how God worked through all the problems she had been through.  It was powerful, but I don't think I can get that across to anyone reading this.  I think it was a good refresher for me, because the summer church activies in Athens have been ok, but not challenging the way that was.  After Refuge, I got to catch up with a bunch of friends, then we played some Boxers or Breifs which is a very fun game.  On thursday, I met Paul Skidmore for lunch and we caught up and talked a lot about the CSC ministry and other things going on.  That afternoon I hung around the CSC, till Amber and I went to see Akeelah and the Bee.  It's a great movie.  Then we had dinner and talked about how quantuum theory relates to psychological well-being and how eastern thought contributes to a gap in the hard sciences and the soft sciences, specifically where the behavioral sciences and the medical sciences overlap.  It was a great confeversation!

Likewise, Friday for lunch, Gwen and I went to the Cupboard....yum yum....and caught up on life in general.  Then we talked a lot about education, goals, purpose, and psychological well-being.  After that my brother came home and we caught up as well, then shared quotes that each of us had gathered.  We shared them for about an hour.  We then decided to rent a movie, and when we got to the rental place, we didn't know if we had a DVD player at home...so we got a VHS.....Young Frankenstein.  It was pretty awesome.

Brother took off today and I went to see Linsdey and Jordan.  Taught them Fluxx , then we went to play raquetteball for a couple of hours.  It's been quite a trip so far.  I'm trying to read a lot.  Photos are or will be up on facebook.  Here is the link to the first grouping:

See Ya!

hey all you kids in Xangaland....have you played the game?  Xangaland...it's like candyland, except you get eProps.  After long dileberation, congress decided that eProps were likely not going to be the currency of the future.

So, I finished my thesis, defended it and I am about to turn it in.  I'm waiting for a signature.  It's good that's over.  I'm about to head out on a 16-day road trip to Tuscalusa, Memphis, Searcy, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa.  Anywhere else I should be stopping my friends?   So that's exciting.

Other exciting news.  I went to Stone Mountain.  It's a site on the east (Athens) side of Atlanta and takes about an hour to get to.  It's a big mountain that juts out and they've carved out some civil war generals on the side (it's smooth).  There are ski-lifts to take people to the top and around it is a park with a train, shops, restaraunts and a giant lawn.  We went and had a picnic dinner on the lawn and shopped around a bit.  Then at dark they have a laser/fireworks show.  It was a neat experience and I had heard people talking about it for a couple years now.

The other outstanding activity was going to the 12:01 AM opening showing of Pirates 2, and dressing up like a Pirate.  I should put some photos up, here or on facebook in the next few weeks after my friends put them up (ahem ahem).  Unfortunately the movie was not up to first Pirates movie.

So, I'm reading again....that's fun.  Still working on the Singularity and also I've started Through Painted Deserts.  See ya.  POSTED!

And today I defended it (my thesis) and passed...so now I have time again.  YAY!
